With a gift of $1,200 (or $100/month) you will receive a spot on our Community Wall at Overlook Walk, featuring your custom text on a botanical token.
Now that Waterfront Park is fully realized, Friends is stepping into our next chapter: stewarding this beloved public space year-round, so it remains clean, safe, welcoming, and alive with possibility. Reserving a botanical token will help ensure the park is maintained for years to come.
Friends of Waterfront Park is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, and your donation is tax deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. Please keep your receipt as your official record. We'll email it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
Longtime friends Ellen and Emily recognized their friendship that started at Garfield High School in the 80s on a botanical token.
Why Supporters are Reserving Botanical Tokens on the Community Wall at Overlook Walk:
"I met Emily freshman year at Garfield High School and we've been close friends ever since. Love her so much. We are both so grateful for our wonderful GHS class of 1987. And, we both LOVE Seattle and LOVE the new Waterfront Park.
A while back, we had talked about our excitement over the upcoming park, so when I saw this opportunity, I decided to commemorate our friendship on it.
Then we went for a walk in the completed park on a gorgeous fall day and I showed her the token. We strolled the park, saw the new art, and rode on the water taxi. Love it all and hope the whole wall gets filled up with support for this wonderful park!" - Ellen S.

What is the community wall / botanical token opportunity?
As part of the Leave Your Mark campaign, donors who contribute $1,200 one-time or $100/monthly for one year enjoy recognition on a botanical token that’s part of a beautiful community campaign wall. The tokens will be installed next to the cafe space on top of Overlook Walk, the connection between the waterfront and Pike Place Market, and feature a variety of botanical shapes such as flowers, leaves, pinecones and water droplets.
How many spots are available on the community wall?
There are 2,200 tokens available on the community wall, available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can purchase multiple tokens but will need to do a separate/unique transaction for each. For example, if you wanted two tokens, you would fill out the donation form once and submit, then submit another transaction to the form separately for the second token.
Can I buy a token for someone else?
Yes! When filling out the form, you can dedicate your gift to someone and choose to send them an e-card letting them know about the donation honoring them. The follow-up form to submit the text you’d like on your token will go to the person who originally made the gift, and they can forward on the submission to the person they gifted the token or can choose to fill out the text themselves. All follow-up communications will be with the person who submitted the payment.
How long is this opportunity available?
Tokens will be available until space runs out (all 2,200 tokens claimed).
Can I choose which shape I receive for my token?
No, shapes will be assigned at random, in keeping with the theme that every supporter is part of the vibrant ecosystem creating a transformative new public space throughout all 20 acres of Waterfront Park. Think surprise and delight! You will be given a map to help locate your token once the wall is installed.
What are the tokens made of?
Each token will be made from high-quality and durable aluminum, and the writing will be engraved and filled with color that corresponds to the shape.
How many characters are available on my token? Can I use another language or special characters?
Tokens will have space for 32 characters, and text is completely customizable and can accommodate limited special characters (such as different languages and symbols). All text submissions must be appropriate for a public setting (no expletives, derogatory or inflammatory language, nor political terminology). All submissions will be reviewed prior to fabrication of the tokens, and your submission will be verified at multiple stages.
When can I give you the text for my token?
You should receive an automatic email with a link to a submission form for your personalized text. If you purchased as a gift, simply forward this email to the person who will be submitting the text or fill it out on their behalf. If you haven't seen the email, be sure to check your spam folder. If you still haven't received it, reach out to donate@waterfrontparkseattle.org.
When will the tokens be installed?
The community wall will be installed in late 2025 or early 2026 and everyone who purchased a token will be invited to a celebration when the wall is revealed.
How long will the tokens be displayed?
Friends of Waterfront Park works in partnership with the City of Seattle and Seattle Center on the management and maintenance of Waterfront Park, including the cafe area on Overlook Walk where the community wall with the tokens will be displayed. While we are committed to maintaining the community wall for many years to come, we cannot provide a guarantee beyond the first ten years. We will address maintenance as needed to repair or restore pieces of the wall.
What does Friends of Waterfront Park do? Why should I support you?
Friends of Waterfront Park is the nonprofit partner to the City of Seattle responsible for stewarding, maintaining and activating Seattle’s new 20-acre Waterfront Park. Contributions are used to support our unique approach to public safety, in partnership with Seattle Center and other community organizations, as well as curate free events for our entire community with partners, vendors, cultural organizations and more.
Why are you raising money, is this part of the $170 million Campaign for Waterfront Park?
Funds raised support the comprehensive $170 million Campaign for Waterfront Park which helps to finish the build of the park, and supports the work of Friends steward, activate and welcome community to this new civic space. The Leave Your Mark campaign is an opportunity for community members to participate at all giving levels as we near the finish line of the Campaign for Waterfront Park and the grand opening of Waterfront Park in spring 2025.
Are donations eligible for refunds?
We appreciate every gift that helps drive our mission forward. Because donations are often quickly allocated to support programs, community commitments, and operational costs, we’re unable to provide refunds. Our reliance on philanthropic support also means we need consistent funding to plan and deliver our services effectively. Thank you for your understanding, and please feel free to reach out with any questions at
donate@waterfrontparkseattle.org.
